I finally got healthcare insurance and so that means I am going to the doctor and dentist because it has been a little while.

My friend and I went to the hot springs last Saturday and as usual we ended up talking about food.

So this weekend I decided to try out the Asian bakery in the Japanese supermarket.
The bakery is called Beard Papa’s (because silly Asian names) and they have cream puffs bigger than your fist that are almost always sold out.
So I have this friend who has recently moved here from the East Coast and wants to try all the tasty Portland things.
Woodblock Chocolate company is one of them, and all I knew of them is that they make great cocoa nibs that I have in my pantry.
But apparently they are a store and you can watch them make chocolate.
So for Fourth of July I made a tart that required a vanilla bean pod to make vanilla bean brown butter.
I had never used vanilla bean before so this was an exciting experience.
Last week I decided to make the same tart again because I had raspberries in my freezer and the other half of the vanilla bean from July.
This autumn it seems that donuts are following me to my workplace and my friends are requesting to go in search of them over the weekend.
And people are just eating them around me in general.
Rasmalai is one Indian sweet I have never particularly liked.
The ones I have had, from America and India never quite excited me.
The beauty of this float is that it grew out of other decadent hazelnut desserts that I have made this week.
And had me sounding like a stoner just imagining the tastiness at the Fred Meyer.
Let me explain……
Since it has been summertime in the Pacific Northwest, that means it is berry season and I have been preserving up a storm.
