When I went peach picking last summer, I made two kinds of peach pie mix to put in my freezer: there was just so much fruit! There are many peach orchards in Oregon. This last summer was so hot we were only going to go on the condition that we got up early. If we needed more sleep, then we would just have to miss it.

Double pie in July
From here, there are some summer updates that I am behind on. I’m happy to announce that I am officially settling into fall and that means more writing!
Let’s start with a fun July moment from this year.
As per usual, I took advantage of the seasonal summer fruit by picking, cooking and preserving. I went to the PSU Farmer’s market around July 4th and nabbed some pie cherries for a good bargain.
V day pie feast
I did it again. I took a bag of berries from the freezer to make pie that I would have to return to the freezer after it was baked.
These berries happened to be marionberries and they made a batch of tartlets and a full pie.
The irony of pie
I still have bags of berries in my freezer. And the only occasion to make a pie this week was to bring it to a showing of Keanu Reeves’ “47 Ronin,” with my other two friends.
Pumpkin pie time of year
This week, my autumnal food cravings have finally kicked in.
Oregon suffered recently from a prolonged Indian summer, switching abruptly in mid-October.
