During my weekend in LA, I ate a lot of delicious food. I was staying in Santa Monica and after some great Thai food, I was able to convince my hosts to stop in Malibu for some gelato. They mentioned Grom, and I just had to go, because Grom is not just any kind of gelato shop.

Review on Moana
Moana had a bit of a disjointed storyline but the animation and the remarkable music were a joy to engage in. I think she is a great heroine that empowers little girls to experience new things even if everyone tells you not to:
I also really liked this song because it shows that looks can be deceiving. That’s all I’ll say for NO SPOILERS sake.

Durga puja offering
During late October, I went to my first Durja puja celebration. I am trying to learn more about it because I am going to the large Kolkata celebration in October 2017. While the other food was not the best, this prasad that was given to the participants after the ceremony was delightfully unique and sweet. Continue Reading
Peach pie x 2
When I went peach picking last summer, I made two kinds of peach pie mix to put in my freezer: there was just so much fruit! There are many peach orchards in Oregon. Indian ice cream stop

Middle eastern coffee cake
When searching the best brunches in Portland online, Ya Hala, a Lebanese restaurant came up. I really liked the idea of middle eastern brunch, with lots of lamb and inventive pastries. Ya Hala is located in SE Portland, near Country Cat. I only had been there for lunch and remembered their tasty bread.
I went to the Italian festival one weekend mostly to find some good cannoli. There had already been middle eastern brunch earlier that day but my friend and I were enjoying another hedonistic weekend. Continue Reading
Follow up to Mille Feuille: My birthday cake project
So I posted about this epic cake that was brought for a work potluck and decided I wanted to recreate it myself, because 1.) It was delicious and 2.) I had a bag of pastry cream in my freezer. My birthday was in August, and since my friend is awesome, he would help me assemble the deliciousness.
Double pie in July
From here, there are some summer updates that I am behind on. I’m happy to announce that I am officially settling into fall and that means more writing!
Let’s start with a fun July moment from this year.
As per usual, I took advantage of the seasonal summer fruit by picking, cooking and preserving. I went to the PSU Farmer’s market around July 4th and nabbed some pie cherries for a good bargain.
